Manual Poem by Esther Kinsky

Manual

Manual
for a wilderness: here it lies
small and bordered by
celandine a flat
light-dark strip
unrestrained for what
in fact does wild
mean? we shall lift it
at its four five six
ends with dry
clean fingers the yellow
celandine the moss the
little worms pale under all kinds
of stones this section in the part-shadow
of attempted clearing
let us unfurl it
into the wind so that it
scatters among the peoples.
