Marching Down The Street! Poem by Carlo J. Flores

Marching Down The Street!

My bones are aching, way to go, old fart,
Cheering, laughter, oh my feet
Are hurting, I wish I had a cart.
While marching down the street!
I carry Old Glory in the breeze,
Independence Day Parade it is!
The banner flutters, the crowd who cheers
Tells me is has been fifty years.
Today, we salute the dead and living,
The veterans of the big war,
Hopefully never again. we're singing
With pride and honor.
Some call us dinosaurs of the past, terrific!
We gave our blood to defeat
The enemy in Europe and Pacific
While marching down the street!
