Marks Upon My Soul Poem by Sven Rhoads

Marks Upon My Soul

Deeper than any human hand could ever reach
You found your way into the catacombs of my being
Turned this stone back into the beating flesh and blood
Loyal protector, never to leave my side
With patch over eye and spots over skin
No other could replicate the one who found a way
You left your prints on the very soul of mine
Not even fire could take them all away

We were bound together by forces surreal
No pseudo shell can break us apart
What you have given can never be counted
For the gifts are endless while you ask so little

Primal is your heart but with undying devotion
Love in your eyes that will never come to end
Across the horizons we are forever as one
Even if the hourglass shall run out of sand
We will be cast into the stars we see
Gazing deep in the night, we sit side by side
Two souls entwined without a word you speak
But I hear everything you say like ripples on water

These marks upon my soul you gave me
Like a badge of reason to never give up
We are forever bound in this eternity
A love like no other that began so long ago
