Masks Poem by Ashley Joyce Forbus

Masks

She trys to escape the masks that haunt, follow, and hunt
her ever waking moves
Laughing masks, sad masks, crying and devilish masks
Masks of all sorts of every emotion you could possible think of
Every corner, every turn, everywhere they are
They won't go away, vanish, they just betray
I am going to get my friend, the hatchet
But when I do I discover a horrid discovery
One you don't want to witness
I am filled with raging bewilderness
One who I thought loved me are under these masks
Why would they decieve me like this?
I thought but now I know I thought wrong
They don't love me, they are not honorable enough to be my friend
Why hide? Why not just come out from these masks and just tell me?
All of you, I scream, get away!
I don't need fakes in this life, nor the next
