Masterpiece Poem by Mary Briffa

Masterpiece

Rating: 3.5

He sits before me, a piece of perfection
A masterwork of bone and skin
Defying perfection his cutest cheeks
And his beautiful smile
The smile that warms my heart
His form crafted and carved as a statue

I would keep him hidden a secret held onto me
Locked away to appease my most jealous heart
For it would cause a mortal cut if we were to be apart
My soul will not be complete without his love and warmth
His warmth I shall always embrace

His beautiful brown eyes hold that very key
But I could not hold such beauty
His expert shape and features to all should be observed
His worth more than gold
Fate is what may keep us apart
Nobody understands the love I have for him.
