Maybe Poem by Samantha Campbell

Maybe

Maybe
you were
just a reason
helping me
to understand
providing
a small trace
of clarity
as you wrote
a story
within my hand
because
I felt you
l-i-n-g-e-r
upon each
one of my
fingertips
deciphering
verses
as they
departed
my lips

Maybe
you were
grounds for
clarification
granting me
ample logic
of rationality
as I analyzed
the existence
of distance
exploring
the concept
of space

Or maybe
you were
just a season
that blew
into the depths
of my mind
brushing past
the notion
of time
engraving
a design
within the
horizon
of what ifs
and possibilities

And I should
embrace
that you
were there
that you
surrounded
the everywhere
and everything
as you
encircled love
around
the fibers
of my very being

Maybe it was
our time of union
only meant
for this
moment
in time
this exact
amount of days
that left me
caught in the
vibrations
drifting
on your
melodies rhyme
because I
heard your voice
whispering
beneath sequence
where motions
made it evident
that you were
here in the now

And some how I
knew that you
would be a part
of me for life
no matter
the amount
of freedom
or the vast
need for you
to breathe

Maybe
you were
meant to be
a singular thought
transpiring into more
slowly filling
the emptiness
of air
as you
became
a part of
what lies
in store

Only
to depart
from me
as I tried
to hold on to
what was not
just the ambiance
of a simple dot
that hit me like
a large mountain
a huge force
of movement
that stemmed
an internal
fountain
of thought
to produce
a symphony
that sings
like natures song

Or maybe
I am
completely
wrong
only hopefully
wishing
upon a star
that distance
doesn't feel so far

And I managed
to stroke you
where you
are across miles
and casual smiles
that say one day
there will be
a time
that will be
the time
to truly exist
and sentiments
shall no longer
be missed
as I bleed out
thoughts
from my wrist
in allusions
of what shall be
never ending-ly
like the breeze
blowing in its zone
of comfort-ability
where I kiss you
with gusts of wind

And I'm there around
every corner that bends
like curbs of concrete
rooted to ideas
that are laced
with wrought
iron dreams
supplying
the foundation
of reassurance
that I always
found you
to be
more than
the drifting
of a season
passing by
more than
just a reason
that supplies
me with an
over-standing
of evidence
even as we
drift apart
its evident
that you were
meant to be
a placement
of forever
marking me
for a lifetime
of maybes...
