Medicine Poem by Michelle Downing

Medicine

The rain falls on the sand
She finds the truth
The wave breaks the rocks
They never wanted it

And they scream through the suffocating darkness
As the tide sweeps her away
'It's just medicine'

The mountain crumbles
She slowly dies
The volcano conceitedly spits up ashes
They want her to hear them
But she's too far now

And they beg with her
Through her terrible agony
'It's just medicine'

The wave slowly floats
Her casket away
And with her last breath
'It was never just medicine'
