Meditation Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Meditation

Slowly,
Inhale.
Just before the exhale,
Take notice of what happens.

"Nothing."

More and more,
Take notice of that 'nothing'.
As you continue to breathe.
That nothing,
Will take you to a place...
Awaiting you to meditate upon.

Once done to do,
With time to find each day.
Your mind will begin to relax.
And that tension you feel,
No longer stays but fades away.

"And...
What will I discover?
What should I expect? "

More of yourself to define.
With a more peaceful mind.

"That's too simple.
And makes no sense."

One day it will.
Leaving you convinced.
To notice how much sense you make.
With your tensions gone.
Each day your meditation,
Continues on as if with you...
Belongs to have delivered,
A clearer, brighter...
And positive point of view.

"Is this a religious thing? "

Hmmm...
Similar.
Usually when people pray,
They are asking of God...
For themselves something to expect.
Meditation?
Can be considered more,
A 'spiritual' thing.
In which people are quietly,
'Receiving'.

"Receiving what? "

A calm mind.
To hear, listen.
And notice a difference,
How God works in mysterious ways.
