Meditation Poem by Jim Harmon

Meditation

Deepening shadows, the twilight haze.
Forest paths cool with shade.
Gentle breezes stir the trees,
Soft warm sand beneath my feet.
Night birds call as the shadows lengthen,
Ocean waves caress the beaches.

My favorite place of sweet repose
always there wherever I go.
Busy airports or noisy streets
can not hold me when I choose to retreat
and rest awhile on my private beach.

My friend is there waiting for me
to have, caress and hold me.
Safe and warm from the gales and storms
that life bestows upon me.
I have but to close my eyes in order to see
His gentle eyes beckoning me.

'Come, rest in me.'
He seems to say.
'I bring you peace from your hectic day.'
I can share my thoughts with my Holy friend,
and never say a word to Him.

The sun sinks low in the purple haze
and disappears into the shimmering waves.
I know I can go, just leave my mind
and all of the cares of the world behind.
I can take the hand of my gentle friend,
soar out and far away with Him.

Complete at oneness with the light within.
The answers to all the questions that have ever been.
Deeper and deeper into my inter peace
my soul soars higher, the light won't cease.
Like a moth drawn to a candle flame
I am drawn and call His name.

Pure Love, pure Light
Return me to my earthly plight
that I may live and understand
and truly love my fellow man.
