Meditation Poem by Perry Shepard

Meditation

Rating: 5.0

Like a Zen monk
I sit amidst humanity
Just breathing—just breathing
Letting thoughts go by-
Thoughts without thinking.

I have quit asking questions-
Asking questions
Of the Universe and God
As life surrounds me
I emerge into the dream.

On the microcosmic level
Nothing is solid.
All events rest on the movement
Of particles and of vibration.
And I chew my food slowly.

I have done nothing grand-
Nor have I ruled with power
The multitudes on earth.
Yet I once threw a thought
Out into the stream
That still ripples through humanity.

My ephemeral existence
Spans a speck of the infinite.
The Universe would not hold
Together without my energy
I am the key to the future.

These words are not important
These thoughts are only breathe
This physical form only a shadow
This life only a dream.
This unity simply sublime.

Regardless of how unimportant we may feel, in reality, we are important to someone. Keep meditating, and writing. Great poem, and form. it's a #10
