Meet The Raven Poem by Guy Wild

Meet The Raven

The sand crunched beneath my feet
As the light danced across the sky
Months ago I was living the life
Now I was just trying to survive

The sun attacked me relentlessly
I almost quit my search
The desert was no home for any wanderer
I didn't imagine life could get much worse

My father told me of a raven
The one who was once a boy
He who held the knowledge of freedom
With the ability to change on choice

The weather started getting hotter
And my soul began getting tired
I was no longer looking for love
I was looking for redemption

Just before the last straw
The winds began to shift
I saw him sitting there upon his perch
With an understanding grin

Black feathers draped down
What use to be his skin

"What's wrong with the world"
I began to say
Twisting and turning my words
To show my dismay

"The one I love
No longer shows empathy
She's entered a dream world
While I'm stuck in reality

How come she's so mean to me?
I try to show my feelings
But that's never been easy.

Is it possible you could share some of your happiness with me? "

"You really need to stop feeling so sorry for yourself"
He said as he flew away
