Memoirs Of A Killer Poem by Adam Rubenstein

Memoirs Of A Killer

I watch from afar
Never of the near
Stalking
Planning my positions of fear
The attack
From the front?
Or the rear?
Mount up
Pack the gear
A day at war
(and) This day is here

I perch on the roof top
Peering
Near and far
Looking for my target
Looking to right this wrong
Locked and loaded
As my target approaches
Set the sight... just right
(In a second) this will all be over with

Barrel in hand
Trigger armed and ready
Steady
Steady
Target locked
Steady
Steady
Deep breath
Steady
Steady
Release
____

Squeeze-
Screams-
Body to the ground-

It's over
It's done
But the pain still lingers on
These tears still run
What am I doing?
What have I done?
I think I hear them come.
What am I doing?
What have I done?
I think I hear them come.

Thoughts
End this misery
End the mystery
It was me
And today my war is done
Just one last thing before them come.
BANG!
