Memories Poem by Jan E Smith

Memories

Shirts tucked in underware,
a bike ride by the sea,
passing time with thoughts to share,
a friend who cared for me.

The rock we found upon the sand,
by waters running deep.
The way it felt to hold your hand,
these memories I will keep.

A friend who's soul did touch my own
and taught me how to be.
These thoughts come when I'm all alone,
I miss your company.

But life goes on and on and on,
or so I have been told.
With each new day, first comes the dawn,
then sun to chase the cold.

So at this dawn of my new day,
my memories I'll hold tight
And for your safety I will pray,
as day moves on to night.
