Memories Poem by Pondering Portrait

Memories

Ghostly images of the past
Special memories here to last
Like a pleasing aroma of pleasure
A shard of my life, I’ll always treasure

The spirit of yesterdays haunting me
Thrusting such scenes I wouldn’t see
A reminder of my bitter resent
That’s eaten into me up to the present

Every heartbeat off every peak
And the reassurance of the comfort I seek
Of the wonder and beauty still dazzling my eyes
When I reminisce of the days that I prize

Throbbing alive, searing through my soul
The pain of what’s gone, cuts me whole
With clawing guilt and sweet seductive memory
Forever tearing and patching up my sanity
