Memories Until Reality Poem by Libby Bechtel

Memories Until Reality

How are you supposed to feel when you love someone you shouldn't?
Unable to control the feelings
Your brain clouded by them
Your gaze set on them
Your body aches for them
Your lips wish to taste theirs once more
You had them before,
But so long ago, your body forgets theirs
Your memory, a mere whisper
The flame just grows & brightens with each day
The tension & the pull between us strengthens
Almost bump into each other,
But no, that's not a sight for public eyes
Without you, my world would be colorless & I'd have no one
true
But alas, we can't be together
We're so alike we'd crash & burn
All feelings & friendship torn
For now we're content
But the future holds promise
