Memory(What A Trip.) Poem by derrick foster

Memory(What A Trip.)

Is this the place that i know
could this be the space where i grew
minds images change
everlasting imprint flashes
moments speed swiftly
over time again and again
repeated constantly then fleeting into
yesteryear in flickers
too hard to grasp but easy to recall
the carousel spins and my eye
turns inward to unravel the signs
a peek into the file of facts
a glimpse into the past
weaving in and out of synapses
see it like a book
pages turning quickly
find the imprint of something i never knew
snapping me back to another
an event passes as roles change
it becomes hard to explain
something experienced then
and what is experienced now differ
what i had just gone through
bleeds into a memory of somewhere else
skipping incidences, disarming defenses
hurtling through alarming the senses
a reminder of what needs to be done
projecting the misses providing me
lists and fears outgrown
keeping track of instants and gathering
events forgotten and never known
