Message Of The Day Poem by Je'free Y .

Message Of The Day

First burst of daybreak replaces the dark.
Squinting eyes, greeted by a blazing light
Sliced through my window blinds,
Try hard to open to the morning world
That is tugging me out of bed, demanding
I move on from funerals I have attended
And, hop into the wagon of the living.
The minutes grow brighter like a statement
Intensified by an exclamation point.
They scream a sense of urgency to my face,
A command of discipline in this combat
Of life, or an order to bring the punctual
Version of myself beyond this room.

Outside, at the center of the field of production,
I will labor and sweat until evening returns.
Surrounded by workers in survival suits,
Exposed to the risks of competition,
Faced with tasks while racing with time,
I will heed to every sign written everywhere,
Digest every lesson today has to feed.
Whether sunny or overcast, a story unfolds,
A song reveals its chorus wanting our attention.
Before sunset measures my accomplishments,
I will make sure I have plowed well the soil
Of opportunities, so rich and so fertile.
