Metamorphosis Poem by Gill McEvoy

Metamorphosis

Tonight I'm stepping out of this old skin:
watch it swirl away into the drain,
vanishing in suds and foam.

All those years of making, and it didn't suit.
No time now to waste.

I paddle to the wardrobe in wet feet,
my wake a burst of strange
dark water-lily blooms.
