Thus in tranquil wandering did I stroll
Upon the sands of solitary shore,
My lengthy shadow seemed to unroll,
Yet the twilight swallowed it ever more.
A void drifted in the gloom of my thought,
While foaming waves burst in ceaseless motion,
Against dark rocks that in their rage were caught,
Echoing a turbulent commotion.
And so, seeking among the somberness
I saw a faint gleam embedded in the sand,
Strange glow in that mysterious wilderness,
Thus for it I reached with my trembling hand,
Seeming as in a trance, I was caught in swirl
Of profound joy at the touch of a pearl.
