Where is the song of the birds
On this mid summer morn of madness
Where is the smell of warming earth
and the farm animals cacophony?


Where is the song of the birds
On this mid summer morn of madness
Bombardment has destroyed my hearing
As mortar and shells fly and explode?


Where is the song of the birds
On this mid summer morn of madness
I think of my wife and family at home
Will I ever see my new born son at play?


Where is the song of the birds
On this mid summer morn of madness
The stench of death is all pervading
As I crouch in this soggy trench?


Where is the song of the birds
On this mid summer morn of madness
Please dear God put and end to this war
And bring Putin to trial for the evil created.


I hear the dawn chorus happiness abounds
The summer warmth and bright light surround
Laughter and merriment are in abundance
A bullet ended my life and I am in heaven now.
