Midday Sunset Poem by Alyssa Baker

Midday Sunset

Laying on the sand
The sun beat down
The sand sticking to my skin
My eyes closed...

The sky turned pink
Filled with small clouds
Like feathers they floated
Reflecting the light

Crimson and purple appeared
Creating a sunset
The yellow-orange sun
Lowering, entering the sea

The soft sand
So perfectly placed
In between my toes
Everything felt right

No longer alone
A presence appeared
Walking beside me
Our hands entwined

A pulse so strong
Flittering eyelashes
Smiles so sweet
And the silent crashing of waves

The wind circled us
Like a dance
Causing a slight chill
Closer he came

Placing his jacked around me
We stood and held one another
His hand tilted my head to face him
And his perfect lips touched mine

So gentle
He held me
So tender
It could have lasted forever

Tonight my dream will come true
Made for each other
We will be together
As one
