Million Dreams In River Bhogdoi Poem by Monoranjan Thakur

Million Dreams In River Bhogdoi

Million dreams in the river Bhogdoi
Listen to the river Bhogdoi!
she is singing like in ancient Greek drama- a parodoi?
The descendants by the river the soil and its nature,
The piece of music she plays is of your Life and culture!
She has written the lyric for her own song,
It tells your happiness and pain for long!
Oh River people! Your actions remain concealed and secretive,
experience of Bhogdoi makes you more resourceful, more creative!
The Egyptian civilization grew on the banks of the Nile
River Bhogdoi carries the story of cries and smile!
The story of a freedom fighter or a dancing monk of Majuli,
River knows their story of joy and sorrow equally!
She sings love and tragic bihu songs of Malow Pathar at rise and fall of life,
Farmers bumper rice production since time immemorial, sometimes river's strife!
she is a witness to Burmese invasion and the Moamoria rebellion,
She flows strong despite the severe infighting of millions!
She speaks suzerainty of her people in the valley,
Happiness and worries, unification and separation valiantly!
She was offered religious meal to change her name,
The shame and hesitations of first attractions are spontaneously inter-woven!
Her haunting beauty is the inspiration of Aainaam, Biyanaam, bihu and Oinitom,
Her water is used equally in birth, death, wedding and ceremonies perform!
Millons of dreams reside in this river Bhogdoi,
she is singing like in ancient Greek drama- a parodoi!
