Mirror by Brandon
Death on the brim of non-existence,
Life the fruits of our labor,
Old age the gain of wisdom,
Our youth innocence to Gods eyes,
Truth living in someone lies,
Sons dying, mothers cry,
One man shoots the gun,
The other fires back,
Best friends for life,
The world stabs you in the back.
Trying to live in peace,
Peace of mind we lack,
Embracing ones soul,
Thoughts over racked,
Singing songs to hide the pain,
Body numbs,
The feel of rain,
Screams at night,
Crying your self to sleep,
Buying time,
Goals never meet,
Teenagers having babies,
Living life in the fast lane,
Suicides happens daily,
Life is not a game,
Watching from a distance,
Pretending nothing there,
What’s the point of existence?
If you never show to care,
The World what a mess up place,
Tainted souls losing their face,
On the outside you look ok,
What a lie,
Cutting your wrist,
Please explain to me why,
But I look in the mirror,
As I yell at myself,
Tears that fall,
Can never be helped,
Wanting to change
I wish I could
But this is me,
And this feels good.
This read was a bit difficult because it was sometimes a first person read and sometimes a third person read. It actually went back and forth on this. This reduces its focus and effectiveness. It probably needs a close rewrite by the writer. Otherwise, the mirror aspect is fine. GW62
