Misled Poem by jessie warren

Misled

It bears something exclusive from within.
Something that you weren't meant to reach
but still seek through its skin.
The softer it gets with every hit.
You can't tell from looking that feelings are polished and burned.
Rewinding words you think you've learned.

Once you get a taste theres no going back.
Even though it was never yours to touch.
That unfamiliar feeling that it gives
isn't soon to disappear.
Now that you've tainted it, its only thing you have.
Theres nothing else to do but hope it reappears.

But its been tainted so much that its getting thin.
You don't realize you're peeling a part its only protection.
Torn it open for everyones attention.
Before it knows it, it becomes its own affliction.
Then its clear to you that you are the cause.
Thinking for the longest time that you were making it happy.
Now with a couple words everything is on pause.
