Miss Independent Poem by Chantel Coates

Miss Independent

Miss independent, do i really know what that means
Who is it? tell her role. And is it what i want to be?

My baffle mind struggles with this subject
Because i take love as being a reject

I observe the positions of variety of ladies
My results was a zero like an unborn baby

I ponder, then i found myself asking a man
Poor naive man, He did the best he can

His answer was i want a woman who is independent
Outcome of betrayal that where my behavior went

So i got my own house, my own car, and work hard
ME needing a man was out the questions by far

It seem like power i gain
So playing them i had no shame

Until boredom finally caught up with me
Then loneliness brought me to my knee

I ask God please reveal it to me
So in the word I knew what to read

It was like i was a change person by the end of the night
But being independent to me still wasn’t right

The problem for the ladies is who we depend on
Why the little man when you have the almighty one

I follow His instructions the best i that i can
So trust and believe i getting that marvelous man

I will be his loyal help meek that support
And we will need each other for it to work

So Miss independent i guess that not me
Cause i depend on God to lead me that lives in he
