Misunderstood Poem by Heart Of Ink

Misunderstood

I had a secret
I thought I should tell you about it
I came here to open my heart up for you
But it didn't work the way I wanted it to

I'm a child, immature, I'm a work
In progress and I've learned
That as sad as I must feel,
I must feel and burn

And your job is to comfort me
And to be there when I need you
And your job is to do the right thing,
But not expect me to like it

Bitter much? !
Because we're all misunderstood
And perhaps we all should be
Sometimes, it's just not enough
To clean up the mess
But to tell the truth
To someone you care about
Before they die
Before they're gone forever
Trust me, it's worth it

I woke up to the sound of birds
Singing outside the window
They reminded me of lovers
Winter is cold
But it's always good
To stare at the emptiness
For it's a reminder
That we're not empty inside
No, we're not empty and we're alive

Are you looking for release?
Let go of whatever's in your head
And I know the things that I've not said
But I can't stand the hurt so I run
But I don't want to run anymore
What are you looking for?
Trust me, it's worth it
Whatever it is, it's worth it
