Or of man and machines,
Machines and tools,
Factories and industries?

Cities and towns mushrooming,
Dirt and dust,
Din and bustle
And jams?

Modern English poetry,
Is it of city life and culture,
Metropolis and mega cities,
Airports and bus terminuses,
Traffic lights and zebra crossings?

Modern English poetry of modern man
Living in towns and cities,
Flats and skyscrapers,
Going by lifts,
Staying upstairs.

Modern English poetry
Of modern life and living,
Urbanity
And connectivity,
Global access and connectivity.

Of science and technology,
Medicine and medication
Lengthening the expectancy of life,
Challenging ruthless Nature
Tameless and wild too.
