Molly Poem by Eli MorenoDrew

Molly

Molly Sarle stole my heart in a knitted sweater dress
Dress down to her thighs but she wore it so beautifully
beautifully bare wondering what she was wearing under
UNDER that knitted sweater dress, but when she sang,
sang so precisely that you couldn't threadaneedle through
through my bones I could feel her voice soothing them
them were Mountain Man, but she was Molly, face bare
bare was her body under that hole-filled knitting she had
had my heart when she laughed about drinking tequila
tequila sunrise made me less warm than she did sober
sober-as-a-lark she and i weren't, but neither knew
knew nothing of each other and Godforbid we never will
will yourself not to touch her hand and stare into
into her eyes I fell in love, her messy hair was tangled
tangled up in blue like Zimmerman because she will go on
on the radio, I’ll pause and smile if I hear her voice
voice my love to her in a sigh, and never forget Molly.
