Mom Poem by shaina quereshi

Mom

To the woman who didnt give birth to me,
Yet seemed to love me more than life.

To the woman who accepted me with open arms,
Into warmth of her family,
Rendering me love, respect and integrity.

To the woman who seemed to care with all her might,
Leaving behind all problems in her sight.

To the woman who lent me the cradle of her lap to cry.
To me she was something larger than life!

To her I question...
Why.then.could you not forgive my crime,
Why then could you not love me again,
Why could you not overlook my mistakes,
Why then could you not help me get over my guilt...

My Mom...
Shouldn't you have helped me,
Get from right to wrong?
The duty of a Mom...

Shouldn't you have held me and said,
'So what if they ridicule you,
You have the warmth and protection of my motherly love.'

You wouldnot have been this,
Had I been your own flesh and blood!

You weren't mean, Mom,
You ceratinly weren't wrong.
You lashed out at someone,
Who hurt you emotion.

You were cruel to me,
Because I had inflicted pain upon you.
You caused me pain,
As a revenge to your hurt.

My Mom...
You certainly weren't wrong..
Somewhere down the line,
Our relationship went wrong.
Heaps of dishonesties,
Mine were blatant,
Yours were latent.

I am glad I could never be a daughter to you,
Since you were never my Mom...
You killed the daughter with your haterd.
It wasnt Mom-like, my Mom...
But I can never kill my feelings,
Which speak out loud.
You were my Mom forever and will always be.
