I thank you money
For my parents
sent me to school
I thank you
For my teachers
taught me at school.
I thank you money
For my growth intellectual
I thank you
I became a professional.
I thank you money
To help me find my love eternal
I thank you
for safe delivery
of my children at hospital.
I thank you money
To help me retain the friends I like
I thank you
for commercial success in life.
My dear Money
Once again I solicit
your countenance;
I had sold my true self
in desire of
your abundance.
I want my true self back
I am stuck
in quagmire of false self
Can I use a little bit of you
to get back my true self?
Now you tell me
that you can’t help
And that I need God!
Why did you then
promise me heaven
And told me that
you yourself were the Lord?
I realize it was me
who misunderstood you
Fool I was
to blindly believe in you
I shouldn’t have
madly loved you
I was wrong
to find in you my soul’s solace
How could I ever imagine
that You could take God’s place.
