Mongolian Death Worm Poem by Juan Olivarez

Mongolian Death Worm

The Mongolian Death Worm,
Crawled through the Gobi Desert.
Oblivious to all, fearing nothing.
Crimson on top, off white underbelly.
Right below the surface sand it crawled,
The Mongolian Death Worm,
Bane of all living things,
In the Gobi Desert.
An alien creature, with the ability,
To hurl acid a significant distance,
And destroy life.
A creature with the ability,
To send forth electrical charges,
To immobilize it's prey.
The natives swear they have seen it,
Have felt it's wrath.
Even the Soviet occupiers,
Claim they saw it,
Claim they were victims, of it.
The Mongolian Death Worm,
A living fossil?
A creature left suspended in time,
From the dawn of creation?
Or maybe just a myth,
The Mongolians swear..........
