Monster In Me Poem by Aanuoluwa Adebanjo

Monster In Me

I never knew I had a monster
Buried deep inside of me
An alien behind this clueless face
I never knew I had a beast
Growing deep inside of me
A mask keeping it away from the world
But you unleashed the monster in me
The very day you broke my heart
You unchained the beast
The very day you walked away
I am not the same person anymore
I have become something really dangerous
And my greatest fear
Lies not only in hurting those I love
But in hurting myself
And those that never knew me before now
Should I run? Should I stay?
I do not know
But I know better than to stay in sight
I'd rather withdraw to the shadows
Where only darkness knows my name - MONSTER!
