Monty And Rose Poem by Ima Ryma

Monty And Rose

Monty and Rose, bird couple who
Spend their summers at Montrose Beach
In Chicago where both birds do
Lots of conservation outreach.
Great Lakes piping plovers, they be
Ambassadors for species that
Is endangered primarily
For loss of lake shore habitat.
In winter time they separate.
Destined to Florida be Rose,
Bidding a so long to her mate
As off to Texas, Monty goes.

But hopefully each summer quest -
Back to Chicago to both nest.
