More Than A Memory Poem by Gavin Birchell

More Than A Memory

 More than a Memory Poem

Every day gets harder and harder
You seem so very close but yet drift away farther and farther

The way you looked at me will forever be etched in my memory
And I can't let go because my heart tells me we were meant to be

So I will keep chasing after you
Damn it why do I keep chasing after you
I have given you my heart and been the best man I can be
I have given you everything only to be a memory.

Round two and back to square one
I sacrifice the pride inside and take the bullet from your gun

The echo of the shot revives and strengthens the feelings for each other
This time it's for real, this time it's more than just body heat underneath the covers

You share your feelings share your world and even start to care for me
The world is mine and I give it right back to you
my friends say its a blasphemy.

Your eyes say we'll make it and your kiss says forever
You are a heaven sent angel and I could only be so lucky if we end up together

So I will keep chasing after you
Damn it why do I keep chasing after you

I can only hope that you decide that in my arms is your place to be
I have given you my heart and can't take it back
I can only hope that we become more than a memory
