More Than Just A Cover Poem by Samuel Braden

More Than Just A Cover

The binds around my wrist and the shackles on my feet
Your judgment of me is still incomplete
If you all only knew the real me
I'm not the front cover of my book that you all see
Even those who are close haven't read the inside
If they did they would see I'm no Hyde
I'm more of a Dr. Jekyll but still a disguise
Read my pages and I might come out as a surprise
But even then I go deeper, read in-between the lines
Don't go too far, get caught in a trap and step on a mine
Still some secrets I'll keep buried alive
If let them all go I'm dead, no chance to survive
No one can walk over me cuz them bridges I burned
The scares on my heart some would say them I earned
Even though many say they have seen my dark side
They need to read my book and see I've always been untied
