Mother Poem by Dustin Newman

Mother

You gave me the most beautiful gift.
Life, some would say. But it is you.
Without you, life's choices are without consequence.
Your notes of me console my heart.
For you are not here. Little I have of you.
Tear soaked dreams, visions of dark hair,
Bring to me moments of happiness.
A carved piece of marble upon still wet grass,
joins memories with reality.
Placed a crafted, a folded form of plastic.
A flower to which I attach some semblance of
My love. Called home too soon. As long as
My breath allows, you will never be forgotten.
Never go unloved.
