Mourning Poem by Pradip Chattopadhyay

Mourning

I can't make out what the din is all about
They thump their breasts in grief no doubt
But the tears that roll down their cheeks?
Are they rains that fall for weeks?
Or just a day there they will be
And then as dry as dryness can be!
I can't make out the wails rent the air
Surely heartbroken when breaks the pair
But the pain that stings and pierces the heart
Are they pains that would never depart?
Or just a passing phase, a fleeting while
Just a brief pause before getting back to smile!
