Mrs.Marlin Poem by Rebecca Kolis

Mrs.Marlin

A shadow cast above me
This could be the only possible thing
To keep me holding on.
She was a woman dressed in white
I swore to god she was of a different kind
Her pail blues told me everything.
A dusty smile appeared on her face
She swore up and down that I was going to be okay
And I believed her every word.
She was a gentle human believed to be a saint
Praying for my sins to be washed away
She gave me the chance
To get on my feet again.

So thank you for this
Giving my life back
Over and over again.
You never gave up
And I know it was rough.
But if you need anything
Just some simple company
A letter written in blue
Thank you.

She watched me for days
Watching me make those same stupid mistakes
Patience she had in me.
I learned from the lessons of her youth
She gave me a sense of truth
Behind all these lies.
Disgusted I felt at first.
Then came a calm and I soon learned.
Nothings quite what it seems.

So thank you for this
Giving my life back
Over and over again.
You always gave me a chance.
A lesson I will never forget.
But if you need anything at all.
Just simple company or a phone call.
A letter written in red.
You gave me my life back again.
Thank you.
