Mum If You Were Here Poem by Andrew Vassell

Mum If You Were Here

If only you were here,
my life needs you near.
My wrongs could have
been right and my nights
would be bright. The
void you leave consumes
me, the pain I often feel
reduces me and leaves
me empty.

If only you were here
to comfort and at times
teach me. The transition
from child to where I am,
the beauty in me but would
you be proud to see?
Very often times I cry,
my heart bleed and my
eyes gets empty dry.

Through my dreams I
see you but it's such a
pain I can't feel, touch,
hug or kiss you. Often
times I just want to hold
you, to say to you I love
you but most of all to
hear you say I love you
too.

(A quick write just to
share with all of you
who have lost your
mum or just don't have
her close to you.)
