Musical Poem by jan oskar hansen

Musical

Musical

Long time ago when Liverpool harbour side looked
like a Lawry painting, and not as now, posh homes
for the well to do, my ship docked and I was given
a half day off work. In a narrow street I found a shop
selling used musical instruments and I saw my dream,
a saxophone costing ten quid. I ran back onboard
asked the captain for a loan, luckily he was in a good
mood; but when I came back to the shop my dream
was gone. Later, when day ended and night began,
outside a jazz club- they wouldn’t let me in because
they said I was too young, I heard someone playing
beautiful music on my saxophone
