Must I Have My Next Birth, O Lord!

Must I have my next birth, O Lord!
But not again this human birth-

At the solemn moments of the holy dawn
Welcoming the light with their tuneful calls-

Leading a life guided by nature
Taking easy both joys and sorrows-

Gracefully gliding on the moist winds
Bathing in tiny rivulets with fluttering wings-

Building nests amidst dense foliage
And floating on flowers to taste juicy fruits-

Yes, must my next birth be of such a bird;
Grant me god such a simple boon!

The finger-points look through like rosy blooms:
Your eyes smile peace. The pasture gleams and glooms
