My Age Poem by Dewprasad Ghosh

My Age

MY AGE
By Dew Prosad Ghosh

I was a little boy, lovely and jolly
My mother cared, loved and gave
A name which is lovely;
She asked me one day what I want to be
What I said could not do, it was my folly.

I grew and followed father
Became a complete man
Took the plough to till the soil
For giving you food grain.
I married a sweet girl aged about eighteen
Passed my lovely days with her coloured dreams
My four sons are very sweet, go to school daily
All praised them for they are kind, sweet and jolly.

Passed the days very fast and I reached ninety eight
Unable to move from the bed, it's now my fate.
They are now very busy rarely come to see me
I wish to leave this world, rather being too late!
