My Best Friend Vs My Love Poem by Radhika Karia

My Best Friend Vs My Love

I lost my crazy little heart, in the first sigh… to a man;
Who could understand better than another man?
My best friend, my shoulder, my hearing aid;
He would be the happiest on the choice that I had made.

I gave a call to meet at our usual place;
I told him to hurry as it was a special case.
He seemed excited and wanted to let out a secret too;
He told me he was in love, and I wondered who?

Both of us in love, on the same exact day;
I couldn’t wait to share his happiness today.
I knew this would be the moment we would be jealous of the other;
But also b happy that we are moving further.

I saw him in his best smile ever;
I knew that moment that he was in love forever.
I reached up to him to give him a warm hug;
And he questioned my excitement with a raised eyebrow and a snug.

The moment seemed right to tell him my secret;
Tell him about the guy that I had met.
When I told him, he seemed lost and blue;
As if someone had sealed his lips with glue.

He smiled back and said, he was happy for me;
He just said that he seemed lost, as all this happened so suddenly.
I agreed and asked who his lucky girl was;
And to whom he had lost his everything in a toss.

He held me a little far and looked away from my eye;
And said he was just mocking and it was just a lie.
Could he be just joking around as usual?
Or was it what I read in his eye, d pain that said “you are the girl”.

How could it be that I never read his mind before?
How could this situation ever have a cure?
Would I be able to manage my love and my friend?
I can’t lessen his hurt, I will always repent.

It’s hard to give answers when the questions are not clear;
It seems to get confusing, who is friend, who is dear.
His silent told me everything and left me confused;
By falling in love with another, was I to be accused?
I have given my heart, and can’t ask for it back from this man;
What should I tell my friendly man?
My best friend and our friendship may almost fade;
Until he understand and respects the choices that I have made.
