My Brother Tom Poem by George Capron

My Brother Tom

My brother Tom has begun
His journey into the long night
He has left this plane,
His vehicle, his soul
Is now in flight

What joy he must feel
What sights of glorious splendour
As the pleasures of heaven are revealed
I can see him smile
As he takes in its wonder

From plane to plane, the trip is short
Once you're on
There's no way to abort.
Tom, I saw you there

Day after day into the night
In your mind only
When will my hour come
along with my travel guide

Tom as you lay there
I became aware
in your mind
you were travelling elsewhere.

There was joy at play
It could be seen up close
Not from some place far away
'I'm going, I'm going to stay'
are the words you did not say.

In your eyes I could see,
Yo had found the right way
Away from the noise of the city
Away from those who tried to be witty

You've another place!
A house with no doors
A room with no floors
You were passing through
the fires oh hell

Guided by the angel
Who knows them well
Tom, you've found your place
With the God of heaven
Full in your face.

For you indeed,
The last race has already been run
never to worry again about pace
There's no hurry to go any place.

Joy in heaven is what you'll know
You never did anything just for show.
Goodbye Tom, My brother,
Indeed There'll never be
Such another
