My Child Within My Arms Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

My Child Within My Arms

Rating: 5.0

Would you have my eyes of blue
My nose, my chin, my hair?
And would I recognise that smile
Upon your face so fair?
My greatest wish in all the world
I hope one day to see,
As years slip by my chances fade
Now it may never be.

I long to kiss your tender cheek
And tuck you in your bed,
Then read to you a fairy tale
Or watch the stars instead,
And hold your tiny hand in mine
Until you are asleep,
Then bid goodnight and pleasant dreams
While you in slumbers deep.

What boundless joy you'd give me
For there is no better thing,
Than to hear the joy of laughter
And the songs that you would sing,
I'd show you nature's beauty
All its treasures and its charms,
O I would give my all to hold
My child within my arms.
