My Friends Poem by Amna Haleem

My Friends

Friends are supposed to be your cover
from pain and hardships that you feel
they're supposed to have your back
whenever your in need

You share your deepest darkest secrets with them
and expect them to be hidden
you rely on them for strength and support
for the day that things are just not right

And then you return the favor
by being a friend right back

But what friends are those
that can't say things to your face
that hide secrets from you and reveal yours

What type of friends are those
that mock you from behind
that stab your back
every chance they get
that rip your insides to shreds
and step on you with out a care
that call you close yet leave you far
and leave you with a feeling of dread

I thought they made you feel all warm and fuzzy
that left you with happiness and treated you like a being

But I was wrong
My friends have shunned me in a corner
and have left with me no hope
just emptiness and darkness
that engulfs me slow

My friends have left me all alone with nothing
not even a goodbye
they treat me like an animal
that they can push aside

Yet do they not realize that I'm a human too
That deserves care and affection
or at least a kind word

To me
friends are just lies
that kill you from inside
They mean nothing and are nothing to me
for all I am is a nobody to them

Friends
what a joke
their hopeless and useless to me

I might as well be better off
Alone
