My Generation Poem by Gabriel Rodriguez

My Generation

Gun's firing
tires screeching
all I see
A kid my age bleeding

Open the door
welcome to my life
always fighting
always night
mama's crying
cuz they kids dying
kids shooting kids
not allowed to live
babies having babies
daddy's leaving ladies
More education
less learning
more killing
blunts burning
People drinking
people driving
hitting people
more dying
All I can do
is look
damn that's sad
so many times
it's made me mad
Just plug in my music
cuz the news so depressing
I can't listen to it
I gotta live through it
can't trust nobody
he, she, even mommy
she can't be there
all the time you see
so you on your own
so lonely

This the life
I've come to see
the generation of
wasted opportunity
