My Heavy Daisy Heart Poem by Diana van den Berg

My Heavy Daisy Heart

My darling,
darling
Daisy-dog
I didn’t give it a thought
that one day you would be gone.
It was Flicka who went seven and a half years ago.
It was he who was in Heaven
and Flicka in Heaven
and you and Tigger on Earth
and in our happy home
were my life
my immediate family
and it seemed
we would go on forever.
I can’t write any more
right now – my heavy heart
is dragging me too far down.
I will go on later.

(28 December 2009)
