My Last Heart Beat Poem by katelin offord harper

My heart is throbbing
From the pain in my side
You would think that
Nothing bad could happen
Until it does
I tried to fight
But I lost
I'm having a hard time breathing now
I feel like there is no tomorrow
The funny part is
I tried to fight for something
That I knew was worthless
But it mattered to me
So I stood up for it
But I ended up losing everything
I lost my friends and family
And much more
I will never graduate from high school
Because I stood up for something
That I believed in
The mayor did nothing to stop them from hurting me
Now I'm in the hospital
Because no one tried to stop them
People just watched and laughed
I thought my friends would stick up for me
But I guess they weren't my real friends
Cause if they were
They would of stood up with me
But they didn't
I'm hurting inside as much on the outside
