My Last Testament Poem by alonge oluwabukolami

My Last Testament

The king of the night
has refused to smile at me
with bile and pain
i crawl to my fur
the fur aint friendly this day
treating me like an outcast;
A stranger
have they given me up for adoption?
The king.....His smile!
The fur.....My solace!
Will he come for me before day break?
What about the ones i loved?
Won't i get the chance to bid goodbye?

A crumb of bread
i leave for you
Brother!
And if i leave before day break
Remember i will always love you
when you meet my dad,
tell him i love him always
and my mama
tell her to be strong
My siblings, to make me proud
to my sorority sister
to be the woman i always wanted her to be
Dear friend Airat,
to keep the torch burning
....and to the whole world
to all those whose cares
has been our concern
the work should go on
the course endures
the hope should live on
veni! vidi! vici
my last testament

With pride and dignity
i go under earth
my body a gift to 'earth'
my soul, back to where it came
my brown earrings
to man's best friend
my dog, Princess Polycarp
my sojourn here
a legend
my poems
a gift to the generations unborn

i don't want to leave intestate.
